MAIN FUNCTIONS OF EDUCATION
Learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, morals, beliefs, habits, and personal development, is facilitated by education. Education enhances one's knowledge, talents, and personality as well as attitude. Most noteworthy, Education affects the chances of employment for people. A well-educated individual is more likely to obtain a decent career. We all have our own answers into what is the role of Education but what really is the function of Education?
There are four Main Functions of Education and these are Socialization, Social Integration, Social Placement and Social and Cultural Innovation.
SOCIALIZATION
- The socialization functions in education can be defined as the ability to work and make independent decisions so that an individual can fulfill social duties and integrate into social structures with specified role types later in life. In the broadest sense, socialization is the process of acquainting a youngster outside of the family, in a school setting, with the "norms" of our society. To prepare students to participate in school group activities by recognizing the expectations of others
SOCIAL INTEGRATION
- Social integration is a second function of schooling. People must have a common set of beliefs and values for a community to function, according to functionalists. The process of developing ideals, relationships, and institutions that enable all individuals to participate in social, economic, and political life on the basis of equality of rights, equity, and dignity is known as social integration. It entails the growth of understanding and attitude in persons so that they can rise above their selfish and narrow interests and discover the important items in all other cultures besides their own.
SOCIAL PLACEMENT
- Social placement is the use of education to improve one's social standing. In other words, it assigns people to higher or lower social classes based on their level of education. Education also provides one of the major methods used by people for upward social mobility. Social placement is the term for this function. Universities and graduate schools are seen as a way to bring students closer to a career that provides the financial freedom and security they seek.
SOCIAL AND CULTURAL INNOVATION
- The Social and Cultural Innovation SWG tracks and evaluates existing Social Sciences and Humanities RIs, disseminates and promotes best practices, and identifies and enhances new applications in multidisciplinary RIs.
These are the main functions of Education and that's why Education plays a big role in our lives. Education helps us get more opportunity.
